Biology Olympiad Club

Welcome to the 2026–2027 SOHS Biology Olympiad Club! This year, the first semester will focus on topics pertaining to AP Biology (Units 1-4 of Campbell Biology), and the second semester will delve into USABO-level concepts. <Specific Topics Each Week for the Fall Semester> Each week, we work through some chapters of Campbell Biology, with a short problem set and discussion questions posted on this site. • Weeks 1–2 | Unit 1: The Chemistry of Life • Weeks 3–8 | Unit 2: The Cell • Weeks 9-13 | Unit 3: Genetics • Weeks 14-15 | Unit 4: Mechanisms of Evolution • Week 16 | Midterm Review + Practice Open Exam Questions 🗓️ Session format Each weekly session (~60 min) follows this structure: 1. Quick quiz on last week's Campbell chapters (10 min) 2. Lecture on concept review with slides (30 min) 3. Group problem-solving on USABO-style questions (15 min) 4. Preview of next week's material (5 min) 🎯 Goals for 2026-2027 • Complete a full Campbell review by April • Have every member attempt the USABO Open Exam • Build a shared question bank of 200+ practice problems (including daily questions) • Host guest sessions with USABO semifinalists or finalists All materials, slides, and recordings will be posted here after each session.
